I am Chris Hoddinott. A web-designer based in Sherborne, Dorset. I specialise in e-commerce sites, blogs, as well as static 'brochure' sites.
For the brochure sites I can arrange everything from, registering your domain, hosting, design and maintenance of the site for a year. My price includes all of the above.
For e-commerce enabled sites the site is registered in your name. all work belongs to you and there is no need to pay any rental, managing costs apart from your own hosting contract (can be as little as £5 per month).
My sites are designed to load as fast as possible,to the latest standards to enable them to be viewed as intended by the widest possible range of visitors and to be given the best chance of being rated highly by search engines.
Which Type of site do I need?
Static or 'brochure sites are designed to be set up and left to attract viewers. They may have forms to gather information, a variety of means for visitors to contact you, see your range of goods and services. You can put through updates periodically, but by and large the content is meant to be static or at least not updated on a day-to-day basis. They can enable payments for a handful of items.
An ecommerce site enables to user to log-in and make updates regularly, It also does a variety of other tasks like, enabling customers to maintain accounts, sending passwords, keeping track of orders, notifying the store owner when customers, register, order, pay, etc. Keeping track of stocks, categories, pictures. Allowing searches of the website. Interfacing with payment gateways to enable payments to be processed and you to be paid.
